On June 23, Kanazawa University J-PEAKS Symposium was held at MIRAICHI Research Center on Kakuma Campus. This symposium was held in a hybrid format to commemorate the opening of MIRAICHI Research Center and was attended by about 180 people from inside and outside the university.

Following opening remarks by President Takashi Wada and guest addresses by Tetsuya Mizumoto, Trustee of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) and Trustee Shinichi Nakamura, Executive Director of Kanazawa University J-PEAKS Promotion Division, introduced the project concept and activities of Kanazawa University. After that, three young researchers participating in the Space Science and Engineering Research Center and the Life Science Research Center promoted by Kanazawa University gave presentations on their cross-disciplinary fusion research.

In the panel discussion titled "University Future-oriented Intelligence changes the world - My dream for people and society", researchers with start-up experience and people from companies that support start-ups took the stage and had a heated discussion about their own experiences and the mindset to challenge entrepreneurship. Finally, Minoru Terano, President of JAIST gave a summary of the symposium and his determination to promote the J-PEAKS project.

Participants expressed their expectations for the further revitalization of the Hokuriku region through the development of research integrating humanities, science and medicine, startups, and Collaboration among Industry, Government, Academia, and Finance.

Kanazawa University will continue to take action across the entire institution through J-PEAKS, aiming to form "a global hub that continuously generates discontinuous innovation" as its ten-year vision, and will promote "the advancement of basic and interdisciplinary research" and "the acceleration of social implementation."
